Voiture Balai Organic T-Shirt

First introduced in to the Tour de France in 1910, the same year of the great race's first foray in to the high mountains, the "Voiture Balai" is a true demon that plagues the minds of the peloton, hunting every rider, particularly the weak. The "Voiture Balai", or "Broom Wagon" when translated, is the offical vehicle that follows at the very back of the race. It hangs like a ghoul and despite being behind the riders and out of their gaze they can feel its evil shadow lurking menacingly. If a rider is caught by the "Voiture Balai" he is out of the race. He has to climb off his bike, unceremoniously unpin his racing number and climb inside the vehicle, almost as if he has been consumed by this vulture of "Le Tour”.

The most iconic "Broom Wagon" was in the form of a Citroen H-Van. This model was used, with symbolic broom strapped to its roof, from just after World War II through to the early 1960's. It's this incarnation, with its memorable, classic lines and imposing silhouette that has inspired our "Voiture Balai" t-shirt design.

This t-shirt features a washed in effect hand screen print that is designed and produced here in our printworks. The print has a super soft, flexible feel and works perfectly in tandem with the 100% organic ring-spun combed cotton material.  The t-shirt is completed with a fine ribbed collar, taped neck seam and full side seam construction resulting in superior wearer comfort and shape retention.

This t-shirt adheres strictly to the Fair Wear Foundation regulations that ensure fair and safe working conditions for the workers who manufacture the base t-shirt.
